Important Update: Data Security Incident with Wex
We want to inform you about a recent data security incident involving Wex, the vendor that manages our healthcare FSA, HSA, and VEBA accounts. Unfortunately, Wex’s systems were affected by a cybersecurity breach through Change Healthcare (CHC), which may have exposed sensitive data.
What happened?
On February 21, 2024, CHC discovered unauthorized activity in its computer system, which led to some data being accessed or taken by cybercriminals between February 17-20, 2024. CHC immediately launched an investigation, notified law enforcement, and has been working to secure its systems.
What information may have been impacted?
The data breach may have involved personal and financial information, including:
Contact details (name, address, phone number, email, date of birth)
Health insurance information (policy details, member ID numbers, Medicare/Medicaid info)
Health-related data (medical record numbers, provider details, treatment info, medications)
Billing and payment details (claim numbers, account numbers, financial data)
Other personal identifiers (Social Security number, driver’s license, state ID)
What does this mean for you?
If you were directly affected, you will receive a letter from Change Healthcare with specific details regarding your data. This letter will also provide instructions on how to enroll in free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for two years, fully covered by CHC.
What should you do now?
Remain vigilant – Check your medical and financial statements for any suspicious activity.
If you receive a notification letter, follow the instructions to enroll in credit monitoring at www.changecybersupport.com.
If you have questions, you can call Change Healthcare’s support team at 1-866-262-5342 (Monday–
We understand that data security is a top concern, and we will continue working closely with our vendors to ensure your information remains protected. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause. If you have additional concerns, please reach out to Wex directly, or Rachel or Liz in HR for further support.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
