Finance

The Business Office at Willmar Public Schools is responsible for all financial functions of the district, including budget preparation, purchasing procedures, risk management/insurance, elections, financial statement presentation and tax levy preparation.  The department also oversees food service, buildings and grounds, nursing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Strategic financial management and effective budget controls are the foundation of a good school finance system. Our district's mission and goals can only be accomplished through the effective allocation of human, financial, and physical resources. School funding drives the opportunities available to our students, and our decisions are made in the best interests of all students. Community support of our schools is invaluable to providing safe, healthy, and positive learning environments and programs for every student.

Taxpayer Funds

In compliance with ESEA Section 9203, local education agencies must display the hotline contact information of the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Education (1-800-647-8733).  Any individual who observes, detects, or suspects improper use of taxpayer funds can report such information using this number.

Willmar Public Schools implements multiple checks and balances to prevent such activity.  Employees receive training, and communication is shared frequently regarding proper use of funds.  Questions should be directed to the Director of Business and Finance at (320) 231-8511.
