Identity Elements

Willmar's brand identity elements are owned by Willmar Public Schools and they are a valuable asset to the district. The greater community, including staff, coaches, students and alumni share the benefits associated with the district brand, and therefore share the responsibility of ensuring correct use.

Why does Willmar have guidelines for brand identity use?

• To protect perceptions of academic and activities integrity
• To maintain tax-exempt status
• To avoid the appearance of endorsing non-district entities
• To ensure accurate representations about relationships with other organizations

Color is important to any brand, and consistency is key to obtaining brand recognition. This is the approved color palette for Willmar Public Schools. Color balance should be maintained to ensure a strong brand presence.

Cardinal Red should be used most prominently, followed by black, then followed by white and gray. Secondary colors should be less prominent to provide visual interest, variety, and contrast. Variable opacities should be used sparingly to avoid brand confusion.

Consistency plays a key role in maintaining a cohesive brand identity, so it is important that district materials follow a set of guidelines. A set of templates have been created to save time and maintain a consistent look and feel.

When templates are not available, the guidelines laid out in the brand guidelines should be followed to maintain a consistent brand identity and minimum standard.

Templates can be found below and some templates are also available to staff in Google Drive. Before developing any new materials or platforms (e.g. social media, newsletters, etc.) representing the district or a school/program, approval should be obtained from the superintendent’s office.
