Cardinal Strength and Conditioning

  • Our program supports a philosophy that encourages all the coaches of all our Cardinal activities to be involved in the program.  We believe that a united effort is more effective and supports our belief in multi-sport participation from our athletes.

Strength training is essential for athletes to reach their highest potential. In general, high school athletes do not focus enough on developing adequate levels of strength. This is a huge mistake, because strength is a foundational attribute for improving athletic performance. Too often, high school athletes focus instead on developing speed, power and explosiveness. These are all critical to sports performance, but they can be developed only marginally if an athlete lacks adequate strength. Speed, agility, flexibility, mobility, power and explosiveness are all aspects of athleticism that can be significantly improved by increases in strength.
