Ed Oehlers - Head Wrestling Coach
Coach Oehlers is beginning his 9th season as the Head Wrestling coach of the Willmar Cardinals. This will be his 12th season being involved with the wrestling program, after coming to Willmar as an assistant varsity Wrestling coach in 2007.
Coach Oehlers grew up in North Branch, MN where he competed in multiple sports; including football, wrestling, baseball, track, and powerlifting. Coach Oehlers attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and competed for the Cobber football and wrestling teams, earning an MIAC title in football during the 2005 season.
Ed, his wife Jeanette, and their daughter Camila live in Willmar. Ed teaches Health and Physical Education at the Senior High, and is the Strength and Conditioning coach. Jeanette works for Pact4 in the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building. Camila is involved in many activities; gymnastics, dance, swimming, and camping with her family are some of her favorites.
Dain Kalkbrenner - Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach
Coach Kalkbrenner went to high school at ACGC and graduated in 2002. He participated in football, wrestling, and track for the Falcons. He pursued football and wrestling in college at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he earned in teaching degree. He currently teaches Physical Education at the Willmar Middle School.
Dain joined the Cardinal Wrestling staff in 2015, and is returning to his 4th season with the program. He had previous coaching experience at Hawley, Barnesville, and Moorhead High Schools. Dain, his wife Dayna, and their daughters Jayla and Grace, live in New London. Dain coaches football, wrestling, and is involved with the Cardinal Strength program.
