The Willmar Civic Scholarship Association is a non-profit organization that evolved from a meeting of the Education Committee of the Chamber of Commerce in 1958. It was established for the sole purpose of rewarding academic excellence. The success of this program is due to the overwhelming generosity of local businesses, organizations, established memorials and individual community members. Their generosity directly benefits our graduates as they further their education.
Thanks to generous donations, 75 awards for a total of $42,250 were presented at the 2015 Senior Awards Ceremony at Willmar High School. We proudly awarded $1,000 to the Class Valedictorian, $13,000 in Department Awards and $28,250 in Honors Awards. Awards range from $500, $750 and $1000.
In addition, the David Rau Memorial Scholarship presented $500 scholarships to the outstanding male and female 9th grade students.
On behalf of the many young people we have helped send off to pursue further education, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our contributors. We look forward to continuing the mission of the Willmar Civic Scholarship Association established so many years ago.

The Willmar Civic Scholarship Association evolved from a meeting of the Education Committee of the Chamber of Commerce in 1958. Originators wished to publicly recognize academic excellence and show Willmar Senior High graduates that the community supported their achievements. Their intention was to collect and channel money to deserving students as Willmar Civic Scholarships.
In 2014, with the financial assistance from various community businesses, organizations, residents and established memorials, we were able to recognize 79 students, awarding $40,000 to college-bound young people.
