Principal Lori Lockhart
Welcome to Roosevelt Elementary School!
My name is Lori Lockhart and I am honored to be the principal at Roosevelt School. I appreciate the opportunity and feel privileged each and every day to be surrounded by curious eager learners and talented caring teachers. I joined the Roosevelt family in August of 2014 and am thrilled to be part of such a progressive school system surrounded by an involved and supportive community.
My goal for each child at Roosevelt is to individually meet their needs. Those needs are academic, emotional, social and mental and for each child it 'looks' different. Because each child is unique we, as adults, strive to form relationships and really know our students. That relationship allows for trust, risk taking and deep learning to occur. We believe in our students and we know they can grow and succeed in school when given the care and support they need.
As a school we are progressing and making achievement gains each year. In the past three years our MN Comprehensive Assessments in grades 3 through 5 in both Reading and Math have demonstrated consistent teaching practices and a rigorous curriculum. We have work to do, but we continue to study and reflect upon our practices, after all it is us, the teacher, who makes the greatest academic impact.
We are a unique school with a special student body, therefore we provide a variety of learning environments to meet the needs of all learners. We provide a progressive English Language (EL) program, well rounded Special Education programming and extensive opportunities for students who require more challenge such as Gifted and Talented classes. For students who are not quite yet at grade level we offer supports and more than one opportunity to practice. Along with academics in the classroom we offer a rich Music experience, vigorous Physical Education classes, Computer Programming and Media support.
We are the Roosevelt Cardinals and we invite you to visit or call our school. We love visitors and thrive off of opportunities to 'show off' all of the wonderful things we have happening in our school.
We are a great school, with awesome students and talented teachers all working together to achieve MORE.
