Early Childhood Programs
Willmar Early Childhood programs are designed to help you lay a strong foundation for your child’s future. Starting with infants all the way through preschool, we are here to help you discover all the ways your interactions make a huge impact on your child’s development. So along with all the books you will read and advice you get, we are here to help you with opportunities for parent discussion, resources, parent and child interactions and social time for your child. ECFE is a public school program for all District 347 families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten. ECFE includes parent/child classes, parent alone classes, guest speakers, home visits and more. You can expect our parent educators to share information about normal developmental milestones, parenting skills and resources in our community. As your child gets older, we’ll help ensure they are ready for kindergarten with several preschool options and Early Childhood Screening. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is growing and learning and is ideal at age 3 ½ to 4 years old. Early Childhood Screening is required for entrance to Minnesota’s public schools and happens twice at month at Jefferson Learning Center. For more information about screening call 231-8490. Our licensed preschool teachers are trained in the best practices and as a result provide high quality curriculum where your child’s interests drive their learning. Classes meet for 2,4 or 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. Programs run from September through May. From parent/child classes to preschool, we are here to provide opportunities for fun, development and support and help you instill a lifelong love of learning in your child.
There are new immunizations rules for children in Early Childhood programming. Children enrolled in ECFE and Preschool programs MUST provide proof of immunizations or have a legal exemption for:
