Willmar Public Schools Operating Levy Information - A Community Decision

Aren’t Operating Levies Just for Extras?  Since the 70’s the importance of operating levies to school districts across Minnesota has increased.  In 1980, less than 20% of Minnesota districts relied on voter approved operating levies.  In 2011, more than 90% of Minnesota districts rely on them to fund core academic programs.  Almost 1/3 (113) of Minnesota districts are voting on a levy this fall.

Request for Community Input

Over the past eight months 17 school districts, a couple of education service providers, and Ridgewater College have been working on a project together discussing education’s future in West Central Minnesota.  The participating districts stretch from Ortonville to Lester Prairie and represent over 16,000 students across the region.

WPS Teachers at NASA Ames

Four WPS science teachers were
selected for a NASA Simulation-Based
Aerospace Engineering Insternship
.
The goal is for science teachers to inspire
students to investigate STEM careers
(Science Technology Engineering Math).
  
The internship took place at the
NASA Ames research facility near
San Francisco, CA.
