The mission of the Willmar Community Education & Recreation Department is to generate, support, and encourage life-long learning opportunities in areas of education, personal growth and leisure activities. Willmar Community Education and Recreation programs evolve to meet the needs of area residents and surrounding communities through collaboration and non-duplication of services.

Schools & Parks Belong To The Community. District #347 Schools and Willmar Parks are actually school/community centers, available day, evening, and weekend hours for the community to use and enjoy. Facilities include classrooms, conference rooms, kitchens, gymnasiums, fine art auditoriums, libraries, pools, park shelters, ball fields, and much more. All facilities must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. Users must comply with current rental policies.



Adult Basic Education with Willmar Community Education & Recreation offers a variety of opportunities. From Classes for Enlish Language Learners and Citizen Classes to Introduction to Computers and more.

Early Childhood Family Programs (ECFP) educates children from birth through pre-kindergarten age by giving them the tools needed to transition into a successful K-12 educational experience. These programs also support parents by giving them the resources needed to make the most of the critical first years of their child's development, and strengthen community by shaping leaders for tomorrow.

Cardial Place is a before/after school program designed for school-aged children in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. Cardinal Place is a non-profit organization administered through Willmar Community Education & Recreation. This program is located at Kennedy, Jefferson, and Lincoln Elementary schools. Cardinal Place is open from 6:30am to the start of school, and after school until 6:00pm. Cardinal Place is also open on non-school days as well as summer vacation and snow days.

selected for a NASA Simulation-Based
Aerospace Engineering Insternship
.
The goal is for science teachers to inspire
students to investigate STEM careers
(Science Technology Engineering Math).
  
The internship took place at the
NASA Ames research facility near
San Francisco, CA.
